This video features Chad Madden, Physical Therapist, demonstrating exercises for the throwing athlete. The ten exercises are designed to strengthen the rotator cuff muscles, upper arm, and muscles which control the shoulder blade.
As we all know, throwing a softball in competition is an essential skill, whether it’s an infielder throwing across the diamond or an outfielder hitting the cut-off man. There is the potential for serious injury if your muscles are not strong enough to handle the stress placed on the the shoulder joint and upper back.
The simple exercises in this video are used by many physical therapists to rehab injuries to the shoulder joint – and they are also valuable in preventing injuries before they happen on the field.
